Para 18 - قَدْ اَفْلَحَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

24.2

اَلزَّانِیَةُ وَ الزَّانِیْ فَاجْلِدُوْا كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِّنْهُمَا مِائَةَ جَلْدَةٍ۪-وَّ لَا تَاْخُذْكُمْ بِهِمَا رَاْفَةٌ فِیْ دِیْنِ اللّٰهِ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَ الْیَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۚ-وَ لْیَشْهَدْ عَذَابَهُمَا طَآىٕفَةٌ مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ(2)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

As for the male and female fornicator, lash each one of them with a hundred lashes.[1] And let not any pity for them take hold of you in the religion of Allah[2] if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And a group of Muslims should witness their punishment.

Commentary

The punishment for the unmarried fornicator (male or female) is a hundred lashes. Ḥadd is a form of penalty quantified and stipulated by the ShariꜤah; this cannot be increased or decreased. Furthermore, only the Islamic ruler, or the one who has been appointed by him, has the authority to execute the ḥadd penalty. The public cannot carry out the ḥadd on anyone.

Softness, compassion and love are beautiful Islamic values; however, every value has its parameters. It is unlawful to not implement Islamic penalties in the name of gentleness and compassion. Such gentleness is akin to declaring war against Allah. The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “Observe the laws of Allah, whether near or far, and do not let the blame of the blamer prevent you from fulfilling the command of Allah.” Those who label the prescribed penalties ˹from Allah˺ as مَعاذَ الـلّٰـه barbaric and seek to change them should consider this verse.
